Wau!!

Mistä aloittaisin Islannin matkan tarinoinnin. Vaikka kokosin yhteen vain noin puolet pelkistä mobiilikuvista, en usko että edes nämä voivat puhua kylliksi siitä miten uskomaton paikka se on. Islanti on kyllä koettava omin silmin, että sen uskoo todelliseksi paikaksi, eikä välttämättä usko edes silloinkaan! Jos siis maa on ollut bucket listilläsi, matkusta sinne heti (kun tilanne sallii), sillä se todellakin on kaiken sen hypetyksen arvoinen. En missään nimessä olisi uskonut, että noin kaunista paikkaa löytyy mutta oli se vain uskottava. 

Lähdimme matkaan noin viikkoa ennenkuin pahin virusvyöry tuli ajankohtaiseksi, ja tiedostan että tämä oli erittäin onnenkantamoista. Lähtö viikkoa myöhemmin ei olisikaan ollut enää mahdollinen, ja kaikki upeus olisi jäänyt kokematta. Se oli siis pienestä kiinni. Moni on joutunut perumaan ja siirtämään matkaansa.

Kerron nyt tulevissa kirjoitelmissa tarkemmin kohteistamme, joita tuli koluttua viikon aikana autolla läpi. Näin alkuun siis vaan pintapuolisesti pieni kuvapommi tiivistetysti matkalta, lisää kuvia on tuloillaan. Jaan myös näiden yhteydessä vinkkejä joita tulee ottaa huomioon kun matkustaa Islantiin talvisaikaan; sillä vaikka kuvissa välittyykin ihanannäköistä auringonpaistetta, oli siellä kuitenkin kulissien takana aikas kovat tuulet ja tuiverrukset, lumipyryt ja kylmyys. Jos kuitenkin on pukeutunut maassa maan tavoin ja ottaa säänvaihtelut hyvin vastaan, saattaa talvi Islannissa olla huikeimpia matkakokemuksia elämässäsi, kuten allekirjoittaneella.

Ps; pyllykalenterista sen verran, että kuvassa otos meidän jäätikkövetäjän kalenterista. Ajattelin että se on kiva kevennys kaikkien maisemakuvien joukossa, onhan se maisema sinällään😜

Lisään myös Mustan hiekkarannan lokaation, koska kuvissa kaikki jotka otin sielläpäin: Vik i Myrdal. Vik sijaitsee Islannin valtatie 1 varrella saaren etelä-osassa, noin kolmen tunnin ajomatkan päässä Reykjavikista. Rannan nimi on Reynisfjara.

//Wow, the question is WHERE should I start the writing about this Iceland trip! Although this post consists quite a few phone pictures, I feel like no amount of pictures can really describe properly the beauty of this country - you have to see it to believe it, although you might not believe it even then. So for all of you on whose bucket list Iceland still is, my advice would be to travel there next (whenever the situation allows), since it is worth all the hype. I would never have believed I would be this amazed by the destination.

We departed just a week before the biggest virus wave, so I do recognize this was a lucky thing as hell, since so many have been forced to defer or just simply cancel their upcoming travel plans, which is awful. It was a matter of days in our case; with the departure being just one week later, we would not have had the possibility to experience all this, so I feel lucky.

I will tell you much more details about the places we went to during our week in Iceland in my upcoming posts, this was just a quick glimpse to some moments and places. I will also share some tips in general on Iceland travels during winter time: since it might look nice and sunny in some of the pictures, I want to remind you that there was very heavy winds and storms also behind the scenes, so my first advice would be to dress according to the country and you are on a good way. I will also say that Iceland in winter is not for everyone, but for those who dare to take the risk and go there off season, you might be in for one of the best trips of your life.

Also about the black sand beach since those where all the pics taken there: it is located in Vik, a three-hour drive from Reykjavik, and the beach is called Reynisfjara.
